TARANAKI SPITFIRE FUND 1
More than £30 for the Spitfire gift fund has been raised by the inmates of the New Plymouth reformatory, who arranged a successful variety entertainment presente 1 on Tuesday night and again last night. The programme was of a high quality and the scenery was all painted and made by the men. After last night's performance Mr. J. Sutherland, in congratulating the men, said the entertainment was quite as good as that provided by professionals, and the superintendent, Mr. T. Stocker, mentioned that the performance had been prepared in a fortnight. The Taranaki total, with only fivedays to go, reached £3315 7s 3d yesterday. Among the amounts acknov/ledged , was
a contribution of £10 10s from the New Plymouth branch of the Returned Soldiers' Association and about £20 from th2 sale of stock given by North Taranaki farmers. District totals yesterday were:
