CROWDS AT MAYFAIR.
"DAD RUDD, M.P." EXTENDED. Bert Bailey and Fred MacDonald, who •fjlay the roles of "Dad" and "Dave" respectively in "Dad Rudd, M.P ., CineBound's merry modern comedy of the famous Rudd family, now showing at the Mayfair Theatre, New Plymouth, are ihe original "Dad" and "Dave," having '.played the parts in the stage version of "On Our Selection," when Steele Rudd first wrote the story. During the stage jife of "Selection" they played the parts so often that both beoame better known as "Dad" and "Dave" than by their own names. Naturally, when "Selection" i was brought to the screen by Cinesound, Bert and Fred were the obvious choice for tSe parts of "Dad" and "Dave" and jthe airiazing success of that film brought |hem further fame and popularity. ILateiv .when Cinesound continued the ■ Rudd feniily series with the production of "Grandad Rudd" and "Dad and Dave Come to Town," Bert Bailey and Fred MacDonald were the first members of the cast selected, of course, for the roles of "Dad" and "Dave." The popularity of "Dad and Dave Come to Town" throughout Australia; its sensational success in New Zealand, where the existing records of "On Our Selection" were broken and the splendid results achieved by the same picture in Englcnd, were among the reasons for Cinesound's decision to make still another Hudd family film, "Dad Rudd, M.P.," with Bert Bailey in the title role. "Dad
Rudd, M.P." is to continue at the Mayfair until Friday night. For the convenience of country patrons the matinee on Friday afternoon will start at 1.30 p.m.
