REGENT THEATRE.
SPLENDID ENTERTAINMENT. Screening to-night at the Regent Theatre, New Plymouth, at 7.45 p.m., is "Josette," a gay, tantalising comedy with - Robert Young, Simone Simon, Don Ameche, Bert Lahr and Joan Davis. It all starts gaily on its way when Bob and Don decide that their papa is a little bit too fond of Josette. The fact that Simon (Josette) is innocent of all guile as regards papa only adds to the madness, for Bob and Don pack papa off on a trip and decide to take Josette into their own hands— or arms as it later develops. The denouement cannot be divulged here, but let it be said that "Josette," with its Gordon and Revell songs, is grand !un. The associate feature is "Panamint's Bad Man." Unusual in many respects in that it includes an excellent story and dispenses with the old pay-the-mortgage-and-save-the-girl plot, this picture features Smith Ballew, who plays the part » of a United States deputy investigating the loss of silver shipments from the Wells Fargo express coach. Assisting Ballew in this thrilling action picture are Evelyn Daw, Noah Beery jnr. and Stanley Fields. Miss Daw sings several duets with Ballew. who also sings a •special number, "I've Got Some Riding To Do."
