INCREASED REVENUE
HAWERA RAIL RETURNS MORE PASSENGERS TRAVEL
Revenue from all sources at t.he Hawera railway station for the four weeks ended Septemher 14 was £578 greater than for the corresponding period of last year. Outwards revenue was £582 more than for last year. but revenue from inwards traffic was £4 less than for the same period last year. Of the 14 items specified under Ihe various headings only five showed a decrease the most marked concerning live stock traffic. Cattle and calves leaving Hawera were 480 less than for the same period last year, while inwards traffic returns revealed 111 head of cattle and calves and 822 sheep and pigs less than last year Outwards revenue from parcels was £5 less than last year, while revenue from inwards goods was £43 less. Outwards passengers totalled 172 more than for last year. the corresponding increase in revenue being £45. Revenue from inwards parcels was up by £39, and from outwards goods by £542. Details are: —
