MR. A. E. JULL DEAD

MEMBER FOR WAIPAWA LONG SERVICE TO PUBLIC.
Hastings, Last Night. Mr. Albert Edward Jull, M.P. for Waipawa, collapsed and died suddenly to-night at Waipawa. Mr. Jull, who was 76 years of age, had a long record of public service. Born at For Erie, Canada, he arrived in New Zealand in 1877 and settled at Waipawa in 1881. At various periods of his public career he has been a member of the Highways Board, chairman of the Counties' Association of New Zealand, a member of the executive of the Harbours Association, president of the New Zealand Fire Brigades' Association and a member of the
Waipawa County Council and Town Board for over 40 years. He was connected for over 50 years with the Waipawa Building Society and was pastprovincial grand master of the M.U.I.O.O.F. Mr. Jull unsuccessfully contested the Waipawa seat in Parliament against Sir George Hunter in 1911, 1914 and 1919 as a Liberal. He won the seat in 1930 but lost it to Mr. H. M. Christie in 1935, only to recover it at last election.
