Patriotic Board Secretary. Mr. G. A. Hayden, secretary of Ihe National Patriotic Fund Board, is to visit Taranaki. Centenary Celebrations. A general scheme for Taranaki centenary celebrations next March was approved at a meeting at New Plymouth last night. Women's Motor Transport Corps. To provide an emergency service the New Plymouth branch of the Red Cross Society intends to form a women's motor transport corps. Reformatory Patriotic Effort. An entertainment given by inmates of the New Plymouth reformatory last night resulted in over £15 being raised for patriotic purposes. Kecruits for Camp. Details of the arrangements for the departure of the Taranaki draft for the Fourth Reinforcements have been completed by the Army Department. Hawera Railway Returns. Revenue from all sources at the Hawera railway station for the four weeks ended September 14 was £578 greater than for the same period last year. Patea Resignation Withdrawn. The Patea School Committee has withdrawn its resignation after a meeting with the Wanganui Education Board concerning the site for a new schoolhouse. Committed for Sentence. Charged with failing to stop after an accident, a young Hawera motorist was committed for sentence by the Supreme Court at Wellington after he had pleaded guilty in a lower court hearing at Stratford yesterday. Minister of Railways' Visit. The Minister of Railways, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, and the general manager, Mr. E. Casey, will be at Stratford tonig'ht and to-morrow. Deputations are to meet them regarding the TaranakiWellington rail-car service and Stratford station proposals.
