TRAMS INTERRUPTED
BREAK IN OVERHEAD LINE The New Pljrmouth tramway service was interrupted for a short time on Sunday afternoon when one of the tramway overhead power lines snapped. The break was quickly repaired and the normal service was soon in operation, however. The break occurred at about 2 o'clock in a section of the service just eastward of Hobson Street. The line carrying the trafflc eastward snapped with a bang and the cable fell on the roadway. A passing motorist, Mr. A. Wright, telephoned the tramway authorities from a nearby residence, and in the meantime a bus, which was on the way to Fitzroy, was halted at the scene of the dislocation and the driver, Mr. G. Bennett, directed passing trafflc away from the dangerous cable. The department's repair gang were soon able to rejoin the broken cable and restore the normal service. While this was being done a bus was diverted for one trip to maintain the transport of passengers between town and the Fitzroy terminus.
