URUTI GARDEN PARTY

A garden party was organised by the Uruti W D.F.U. for the aircraft fund. Mrs. Lange lent her home for the occasion. A bring-and-buy stall was in the hands of Mrs. McCabe. Competitions were won by Mesdames Hall, Bell (tie), Johnson and Lange and Miss M. Willis. A donation of £1 was made by Mrs. A. Alpe. St. John Ambulance. The Uruti section of the St. John Ambulance Brigade held its fortnightly parade at Uruti school. Seven members paraded and the evening was spent in preparing for the annual inspection and re-examination of members. It was reported that arrangements were in hand to obtain a first-aid stretcher for the district. At present 18 boys are undergoing instruction in first-aid work. with a vicw to their entering the cadet division of the brigade. Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Kidd, New Plymouth, have been visiting Mr. and Mrs. R. Atkinson. Mrs. D. McBean has returned after spending several days at New Plymouth.
