RIVERLEA FAREWELL
A farewell social evening was tendered to Mr. and Mrs. A. Penhall, Upper Mangawhero Road, who are shortly leaving the district to take up residence at Mangamingi, at Riverlea on Saturday. The evening was spent in games, competitions and community singing. Songs were rendered by Mrs. D. Benton, Mr. Penhall and Mr. Chapman, accompaniments being played by Mr. R. Bamford. Mr. D. Benton presented Mr. and Mrs. Penhall with an oak bedroom clock. Both Mr. and Mrs. Penhall were active members of the glee club, of which Mr. Penhall was the conductor, while he also did good work in connection with the Sunday school. which he organised. The district will also miss their assistlance at social functions. On behalf of the women's institute, Mrs. J. A. Malone presented Mrs. Penhall with an ornamental candlestick. ' Mr. J. Gibson was master of ceremonies. At the conclusion of Sunday school Miss E. Riddick, on behalf of the Sunday school pupils, made a further presentation of an electric heater to Mr. P#nhall.
