"ROAD TO SINGAPORE."
CATCHY MELODIES AT PLAZA. A sparkling pot-pourri of popular new melodies springs forth from the lively larynxes of Bing Crosby, Dorothy Lamour and Bob Hope in Paramount's fun-filled safari into the South Seas, "Road to Singapore," which is now showing at the Plaza Theatre, Stratford. Once again Paramount has called upon that ace writing team, Johnny Burke and James V. Monaco, to Write a goodly portion of the tunes. Their work for this picture includes "Too Romantic," a sock torchy number which has already been aired many times, "Sweet Potato Piper," a swing novelty tune. and "Kaigdon," the number to which LeRoy Prinz's dancing girls perform. The other two numbers heard in the picture are the work of lyricist Johnny Burke and Victor Schertzinger, versatile director of the picture. They are "Captain Custard" and "The Moon and the Willow Tree." "Road to Singapore" finds Bing and Bob singing their merry way to the South Seas t© get away from the girls. However, they run smack into Dorothy Lamour and f all in love with her, naturally. The associate programme includes p-peye cartoon, musical, sportlight and *he Plaza air mail news.
