Alpine Club Ski Store. The Mt. Egmont Alpine Club's new ski store at Dawson Falls was opened on Saturday at the annual "at home." Mananui Resident Shot. A well-known resident of Mananui, Taumarunui, was shot dead yesterday. The police have taken a man into custody. Championship Golf. W. B. Reilly, T. Gibson, J. JefTery and J. Holden are the semi-finalists in the Eltham Golf Club's Central Taranaki championship. Camp at Waverley. An advance party of 34 officers, n.c.o.'s and men will leave to-day to set up a territorial camp at Waverley to be used until Waiouru is ready. Patea Prisoner of War. Pilot Officer L. H. Edwards, who is a prisoner of war in Germany gives an indication of what he is doing in a postcard to a Hokitika friend. Ready for A License. Six civil pilot members of the New Plymouth and Stratford Aero Clubs who recently flew solo for the first time are now ready to qualify for their A license tests. New Plymouth Nominee. P. J. Donnelly, who played this seasoa for Air Force in the Taranaki senior Rugby competition, has been selected as full-back for the North Island Services team. Table Tennis Titles. F. Jolly, New Plymouth, won the Taranaki men's table tennis championship, and Mrs. H. G. Addenbrooke, Ngaere, won the women's title at New Plymouth on Saturday. Transformers Coupled Up. New transformers at the Government sub-station at Mangorei were coupled up yesterday, and in future New Plymouth should have an adequate supply of electrio power. Hospital Accommodation. Prompt action with plans to increase accommodation at the New Plymouth hospital is recommended by Dr. R. A. Shore. director of the hospital division of the Department of Health.
