NON-FICTION . SECTION

. As part of its library policy a nonfiction section is being added to the Kaponga library. This is in addition to the excellent non-fiction service provided by the country library service and will' supplement the supply of works for general readers. A number of books have been purchased and the librarian has now received a gift of three books. "The Day After To-morrow" (Philip Gibbs), "Kagawa" (a biography by William Axling, and "Life Began Yesterday" (Stephen Foot).

Music Examinations Results. All the pupils presented by the Kaponga Convent at the recent examinations conducted by Dr. Staton, of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, were successful. Details are: — Piano:— Grade VI: Lorna McCook. Grade III: Lorna Sutherland, Dawn Bennie. Grade I: Pamela Melville (distinction), Bernadette Crowley (merit), Patricia Red (merit), Anne McCormack (merit), Geraldine McCormack, Alyson Brisco, Barry Barker. Preliminary: Moireen Bennie, Tilly Schuler. Violin:— Grade I: Norma Eden. Elocution : — Preparatory (Trinity College): Bryan Benton. Personal. Mrs. G. Court, Eltham Road, is visiting Christchurch. She was accompanied by Mrs. Court snr. on the joumey south. Mrs. G. McNeile and Mr. Allan McNeile, Palmerston North, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. C. Paterson, Eltham Road. Miss Phyllis Harding, Manaia Road, is visiting relatives at New Plymouth. Miss Noeline Brown, Kihikihi, is the guest of Mrs. J. O'Donoghue, Manaia Road. Mr. K. H. Hoben, who was relieving at the Bank of New South Wales, has returned to New Plymouth. Mr. J. Moody, who was on holiday leave, has returned. Mrs. A. M. Robertsom Hastings, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. H. H. Elmes, Manaia Road. Miss Irene Brewer, who spent a holiday with her parents, has returned to Wellington. Mr. Clarke Dawson, North Auckland, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Dawson.
