TARANAKI HORSES PROSPECTS DISCUSSED

With excellent well balanced fields figuring in all events interesting racing will be witnessed at the spring meeting of the Marton Racing Club to-day when many Taranaki horses are competing. The totalisator Will operate on the win and place system. Details of the fields, with reviews, are:— 12.0 — 1

Awapuni form pointed to good efforts from Bayadeur, Foreign Coin and Fleche d'Or but they were not outstanding. Par Avion has a reputation while Royce has only to begin well to be in the picture. Prince Plato and High Tone shaped well in the parade at New Plymouth. Ihe favourites may include Par Avion, Bayadeur and Royce. 12.40—

There are plenty of promising gallopers engaged in this race. King's Mark and Star Zone ran capital races at Awapuni while Vacation was close up fourth on the second day at New Plymouth. Princess Merling, Taane Pango and Sweet Anne displayed pace at Awapuni and Distress Signal was a fair two-year-old last season. Gold Gain and Colerica are not without chances but the popular selections may be King's Mark, Star • Zone and Distress Signal. 1.20-

Few of these have recent form. HighPeer was a fair fourth on the second day at Awapuni while Dorado is likely to be improved by his races at that meeting. Golden Memory is useful. Brazil and Raeburn have the speed on the flat if they can jump correctly While Larwood ran a creditable race at New Plymouth. The fancies may include High Peer, Dorado and Larwood. 2.0—

Lucullus Boy and Scandal have solid- ■ weights but both were winners at Awapuni and both begin smartly. H. Dulieu has Ringling and Eupatrid engaged and New Plymouth form points to a good effort from the stable elect. Etla has been working well at Hastings while Silver Gift's two good races at New Plymouth will not be forgotten especially if the going is holding. Triple Crown and Namesake are likely improvers. Those to receive support may include Scandal, Dulieu's elect, and Triple Crown. 2.45—

Amigo may be all the better for the race but Taurangi's third at Awapuni will assure her of a following. Footloose and Saxon Tor will be having their first outings since the autumn and may need the race. Screen Star and Black Robe who filled the bills of runners-up at Awapuni can be depended upon for good efforts With Black Robe as the more likely to improve. Sea Link, who won at New Plymouth, will come into favour after her good gallop at Hawera. Nigger Boy's southern form will assure him of a big following if he is started. The favourites may be Black Robe, Sea Link, Screen Star. 3.30—

Though Siegmund and Meamea may have been improved by their racing at Awapuni it is probable that Winsome Lu and Colonel Bogey will claim more supporters. Winsome • Lu ran good races at Trentham • and New Plymouth while Colonel Bogey was unlucky on the second day at Awapuni when he was third behind Lady Montana and Arcas. Gaelic Song after her fine race on the second day at Awapuni will be in demand and Noble Fox will have friends after his New Plymouth success. Homily, Hasten, if reserved. and Skyway are not without prospect; but the main fancies may be Colonel Bogey, Winsome Lu and Gaelic Song. 4.15—

Despite his 9.2 Hasten is likely to be the best supported of the topweights but Gold Court who won at Awapuni shapes like a stayer while Autosweep ftnished well enough at Awapuni to be considered. Sceptre is bred to stay while All 3uiet was running on strongly when she jcored at Awapuni. Beau Monde and Hokumai, who won the bracelet events at New Plymouth, may upset calculavvons. Backers may shovv a preference j for Gold Court, Hasten and Autosweep. ' 5.0—

The Wings of Song-Royal Consort bracket will carry support but Lucullus

Boy won well at Awapuni. Zest and Kentucky are smart over five furlongs and Namesake and Windsor Glow have displayed plenty of pace. The best supported may be the Wings of Song-Royal Consort bracket, Lucullus Boy and Kentucky.
