NEXT MARDI GRAS

FOR PATRIOTIC FUNDS

Ngamotu's next mardi gras at New Plymouth is to be held for patriotic funds. In making that decision this week the beach committee had in mind two considerations. The first • was that a carnival merely for the benefit of the beach would be inappropriate and the second was that the continuity of the carnivals should be preserved, as in normal times they would be of great benefit to the town, through the attraction of many visitors, as well as to the beach • committee. It was decided to invite other organisations interested in rais-. ing patriotic funds to co-oper-ate. It was decided that the mardi gras should be on a sim- • pler scale with a shorter programme and reduced charges.
