WEDDING
^ SCOTT — BATLEY
A wedding of Taranaki interest took place on the evening of August 17 at the Kent Terrace Presbyterian Church, Wellington, of Constance Elizabeth, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H. Bailey, Awatuna, to John David, elder son of Mr. and Mrs. D. Scott, Kilbirnie, Wellington. The officiating minister was the Rev. Mr. Fell. While the register was being signed a solo was sung by Mr. W. Marr. The church was decorated by friends of the bride. Escorted by her father, the bride entered the church wearing a gown of pearl stiffened slipper satin, cut on classical lines. An unusual line formed the back of the frock, which had a number of small gores inserted from the neckline to the end of the long fan-shaped train. The silk tulle veil, which was lent by a friend, was embroidered with satin true lovers' knots. Held in place by a coronet of orchids, it was worn over the face as the bride entered the church, carrying lily of the valley and June roses with maidenhair fern. She wore a triple string of pearls. "The bridesmaid, Miss Florence Bailey, and Mrs. Keith Wellish, matron of ho1our, wore frocks alike in periwinkle blue lace, with tight-fitting jackets and underskirts of dahlia pink taffetas, the jackets being relieved with lace cuffs and revers. Their Spanish mantilla headdress was made of matching lace. Each carried shower bouquets of sweet peas and grape hyacinths. Mr. J. Campbell, Palmerston North, was best man and Mr. W. Scott was groomsman. Messrs. E. Alexander and S. Anderson were ushers. For the reception which followed at the Mokio hall, the bride 's mother chose a slipper-length frock of blue gondolia georgette. Her hat was of navy with floral trimmings and she wore a fur stole and navy nccessories and carried a posy of pink cyclnmen and camellias. Mrs. Scott was wearing a long coat of deep amethyst silk velvet, over a crush-proof oyster satin frock. Her posy was of violets and daphne. Mrs. R. E. Old, sister of the bride, wore wild cherry satin taffetas with touches of gold. The bride travelled in a French blue multi-coloured model frock ornamented with paua shell buttons, with which was worn a northern musquash fur coat and matching accessories. The future home of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Scott will be at Awatuna, Taranaki.
