Gunner T. Roberts, of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, Levin, was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Mcrcdith. Strathmore, last week-end. Cr. W. E. Forbes, who fills the vacancy ea used th rough the resignation of Mr. S. Pitt as north riding member of the Stratford County Council, was welcomed to the councils monthly meeting yesterday bv the chairman. Cr. J. C. Best. Cr. Forbes said he was conscious of the privilege of foliowing so brilliant a local bodv man as Mr. Pitt, who had long served the council. Mr. and Mrs. A. Foy, Mangatoki, have arrived home from London.
