BULLS TO BULL-DOZER
COUNTY COUNCIL'S WORRY Harrassed at first by bulls with a nomadic tendency, the Stratford County Council is now worried about bulldozers. "Tlie wandering bull nuisance has been overcome." reported the inspector, Mr. S. T. Cuff, to a meeting of the council yesterday. In a later passage in the report the inspector said that a bull-dozer had been travelling over the county roads on wheels injurious to the surface. A prosecution would have to be made if the owners continued the practice. The council decided that proceedmgs should be taken if the operators were caught in the act. It was pointed out that a bull-dozer with steel tracks inflicted considerable harm upon road surfaces. Some bulldozer operators, it was stated, went to pains and expense to provide trailers and other carriages for their bull-dozers, while others saved the expense and "took it out of the roads." Cr. W. Vickers pointed out that it was likely that a "herd" of bull-dozers would most likely be on the county roads in the near future, as the machines were being encouraged to come into the district to develop rough lands. Had any special provision been made in the special legislation for the production drive to enable bull-dozers to travel public roads? he asked. Cr. Hutchen suggestcd that the publicity received from a prosecution would be the most effective cure for the offence.
