FULL CO-OPERATION
EMERGENCY SCHEME WORK COUNTY AND STRATFORD Full co-operation with the emergency precautions arrangements made at Stratford is to be given by the Stratford county district. The council made that decision yesterday after hearing a deputation eonsisting of Messrs. N . H. Moss and G. C. Grace, representing the emergency precautions committee at Stratford. Organisation to deal with all types of emergency had been built up in the town, Mr. Moss said. The county could have a separate county organisation on the same iines, but the county chairman, Councillor J. C. Best, was a member of the Stratford committee and knew what had been done and was wanted. Probably it would be better for the country organisation to be merged with the central organisation. District Organisation. Under that system, he continued, a controller and a deputy-controller would be needed in every district. These men would be responsible for getting data regarding supplies, evacuation, and receiving of evacuees and conveying accurate information to the central committee in the town. The organisation was desjgned to meet circumstances arising from an earthquake. flood or other natural disaster or possibiy an invasion. Such an organisation was shown to be necessary by the Napier and Murchison earthquakes. It was decided that the councillors be Ihe controllers in their areas and appoint additional ones as needed. Such controllers should get the information needed, seeking the co-operation of district organisations as desirable.
