SUCCESSES OF PINERO

The well-known sire Lord Quex was named after the Gay Lord Quex, of Sir Arthur Pinero's play of that name, but he had been at the stud well over ten years before the name of Pinero was claimed for one of his stock. This name was secured for a colt out of the All Black mare Parley, who was sold at the national saies at Trentham in 1939. During. the last month Pinero has won two races in attractive fashion at Sydney meetings and looks like proving well worth the 400 guineas that was paid for him. By the way Quex is prbnpunced just as it is spelt and not Q, or any other Frenchified method.
