PLUNKET APPEAL
£137 RAISED AT HAWERA The result of the shop day and street appeal held by the Hawera branch of the Plunket Society yesterday was particularly gratifying to the women who had planned the effort with so much energy and en'thusiasm. About £137 was collected through the combined efforts of members who patrolled the streets with emblems and others who were serving busily all day at stalls heavily laden with fruit, flbwers, produce, cakes and other sundries. Of ihe total £7 17s 6d came from direct donations received during the day, produce given for the stalls netted £14 17s 6d, "cakes £31 4s, flowers £5, and the xnain effort, donations for emblems £78 10s," Accounts were not fmalised, but it was estimated that ihe result would he £137. ' Competitibns were won by , Mrs. N. L. Douglas (baby's dress), Mrs. O'Regan (dinner) and Mrs. I. O. Veitch (cake for guessing competition) .
