WAVERLEY PARTY

A number of friends gathered at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. f. ell, Waverley, for a surprise party on Thursday evening to bid them farewell before they leave for their new home at Taumarunui. The evening was spent in cards and competitions, euchre being won by Mrs. j. McDonald, Mr. k. Martin, Mrs. Allan and Mr. j. McDonald. Mr. Barron was the winner of a competition. Mr. j. McDonald presented Mr. and Mrs. Ell with a silver Cntree dish and Miss Mary Ell with a necklace. He said it was with much regret they had to bid them farewell after being residents in the district for 19 years. Mr. McDonald welcomed the Martin and Seed families, who have taken up residence in the district.
