BAYLY SCHOLARSHIP CONTEST AT STRATFORD r. Gibbins, of the Kaimata school. is the Alf Bayly Memorial Scholarship winner for 1940. Gibbins was successful against a big field in the annual contest at Stratford Technical High School grounds on Wednesday, scoring 260 points as against the 220 of his closest rivals. k. Kerry '(Ohura) and w. Marshall (Hawera Technical High School) were the runners-up with 220 points each. The competition was open to boys under the age of 14 years 3 months on December 1, 1940, and resident withm the boundaries of the Taranaki province, the Taranaki Rugby Union and/'or the Taranaki Education Board districts.
