situation in indo-china * 1 «P Rec. 9.5 p.m. Shanghat, Sept. 19. Evacuation of Indo-China by Japanese civilians continues, but so far few Chinese have left. Japanese missioners expressed fear that the French army would refuse to , permit the Japanese .army to pass through as agreed. The missioners had their suitcases packed in the event that their sudden departure was necessary. The Japanese consul-general at Hanoi, Mr. Roku Suzuki, predicted yesterday that a French- Japanese agreement would be signed within 24 hours. The latest problems had been suddenly smoothed out, he said. However, he was continuing arrangements to remove Japanese women and children to Haiphong as a precautionary measure.
