FAIR DRAWS CROWD

HOLY TRINITY EFFORT

Good business was done at the annual spring fair organised by members of Holy Trinity Ladies' Guild and friends in the Anglican hall at Fitzroy yesterday. Laden stalls did not lack customers and at times it was difficult to weave a passage through the hall, so densely were members of the church gathered about some of the stalls. One stall in particular, that organised by Miss E. Pavitt, continuously attracted visitors. She called it "original art," and the wares she sold consisted of a variety of dolls of all shapes and types she had made and dressed herself. These and small cots and cradles sold freely. Interest Appreciated. The Rev. G. W. G. Griffin expressed his keen appreciation of the work of the ladies who, he said. had worked through the winter to make the fair a success. He regretted that illness had prevented Archdeacon and Mrs. Evans from atlending, as for years they had visited the fair. In the Archdeacon's absence Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Skinner had consented to perform the opening ceremony. Miss Bayly handed to Mrs. Skinner a bouquet. Mr. Skinner referred briefly to the early days of the church at Fitzroy and paid a tribute to the interest of the women. Mrs. L. Chivers, president of the guild, and Mrs. L. F. Binns, seeretary. expressed satisfaction with the patronage and the financial returns of the fair. Stall holders were: Plain. Mesdames R. Day. W. Gentles, J. Christie and C. Peach; fancy, Mesdames A. Pearce, W. Crawford. G. Giddy and L. Simpson; sweets, Mesdames J. Lewis, W. Dalrymple and M. Davies; cakes, Mesdames E. R. E. Partridge, H. N. Rowe and W. Tavlor; produce. Mesdames E. Croll, E. D.
