Maoris Help War Effort. A Maori trust board has given further evidence of the willingness of the Maori people to make sacrifices to help the war effort by making a gift to the Government of £150 and advancing £500 as an interest-free loan. Using Less Petrol. The more the people of New Zealand denied themselves petrol the greater would their contribution to the war effort be, for more dollar exchange would be conserved, said the High Commissioner for the United Kingdom in New Zealand.
