HAWERA PLUNKET APEAL.

SHOP DAY TO BE HELD. The exigencies of war insist on increaeed effort from both the individual and organised societies, and in this respect the Plunket Society is certainly facing up to the increased demands war has made on its national peacetime work, which, to quote the Hon. W. E. Parry, is "of the greatest national importance." More calls are being made on the society to "help the mothers and save the babies," especially in the case of soldiers' dependents. Funds are necessary, to carry on this good work, and to this end the society is holding its annual street appeal. This, if it is successful, will be the only appeal to the public this year. It is, therefore, the duty of one . and all to donate to and patronise the Hawera Plunket Society's shop day on Thursday next, for it is really a patriotic appeal.
