VISIT OF MINISTER
mr. webb in taranaki The Hon. P. C. Webb, Minister of Mines, will leave New Plymouth to-day for the King Country after a brief visit to Taranaki. He visited the Midhirst, oil bore yesterday afternoon and received deputations in the evening. In the King Country he will inspect the Tatu and Mangapehi coal mines. Mr. Webb is accompanied by Mr. C. H. Benny, IJnderSecretary of the Mines Department, Mr. S. Y. Jones, private secretary, and Miss P. Crabb, stenographer. Other visitors to the Midhirst well yesterday included three members of Parliament (Messrs. C. A. "Wilkinson, Eltham, J. B. Cotterill, Wanganui, and F. L. Frost, New Plymouth), Mr. P. Thomson, Mayor of Stratford, and members of the Taranaki Chamber of Commerce.
