CONFLICT FEARED

DANGER IN INDO-CHINA CHINA MAY SEND TROOPS Rec. 10.5 p.m. London, Sept. 17. French nfficials at Hanoi admit unofficially, that negotiations with Japan are likely to result in an immediate agreement that will permit Japan to establish 25,000 troops in Indo-China, says the correspondent of th« Associated Press of Great Britain. This would possibly cause China to send troops over the.- frontier, precipitating a conflict and ending France's rule. All are convinced that only the United States could prevent Japan from gaining a possibly unshakeable hold. The Vichy Government's inability to deter the Japanese has strengthened the hand of General de Gaulle, but the lack of a free French organisation has prevented the formation of a movement that is able to sway the administration's decisions.
