Miss Ruth Pease is spending six weeks in the Hawkes Bay district. Miss McCarthy, Invercargill, is the guest of Miss Gwen Williams. Miss Margaret Hopcroft left on Monday for Patea, where she will make her home. Miss Ngaire Hotter has returned to Wellington.. Mrs. L. R. Hamilton is spending a fortnight at Auckland with her sister, Mrs. France. Progressive Bridge Evening. Novelty in the form of unusual scoring rules caused much amusement among Mrs. J. H. Sutton's guests on Saturday evening when "crazy" progressive bridge was p'oyed. The hostess wore a frock of Mediterranean blue satin, with matching coatee, trimmed with flne ruching. The lounge was decorated with camellias and spring blooms, and in the dining room, where supper was served, were bowls of choice daffodils. Mrs. Stewart won the prize for highest score, and Mrs. N. L. Douglas the consolation prize under the novel "rules." A competition «■ was held during the evening for the £>pi tfi ro fund. Among the guests were . Mesdames John Bayly, J. M. Burns, G. Laurence, C. M. Gardner, V. J. Stratton, C. S. Robb, N. L. Douglas, N. G. Meuli, R. Syme, j. L. Blyth, F. H. Symes, A. Harrop, ijtewart, B. K. Whyte, I. Double and J. L. Thomson. Afternoon Tea. Vases of bright ranunculi decorated the lounge of Mrs. J. E. Dingle's home yesterday afternoon when she invited a few friends to "tea and talk." A smart frock of spice brown, ornamented with bands of quilting on the sleeves and at the waist, was the choice of the hostess. Her guests were Mesdames W. W. Davy, L. Haberfield, R. Colville, W. J. B. Hunter, W. A. L. Nees, W. P. McAnerin and Palmer.
