RAWHITIROA NOTES
A euchre party and dance in aid of the soldiers' comforts fund was held at Rawhitiroa and drew a good attendance. Prizes donated by Mr. W. B. Robertson, were won by Mrs. H. Roberts, Miss I. Bleakley, Mr. R. May and Mr. Joseph Wright. Consolation prizes went to Mrs. S. Knuckey and Mr. L. Bootten. A competition for a fancy apron, donated by Mrs. Walters, was won by Mrs. J. Ryc. Music for dancing was played by Mr. P. O'Connor and Miss M. Chartcris. Mr. C. Bootten has left to take a position at Wanganui. Miss E. Terry, Avondale, Auckland, spent a fcw days with Mrs. J. McLaughlin. Gunner M. Chartcris, Fort Dorset, spent a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. D. J. Charteris, recently. Miss N. O'Connor, Wellington, is the guest of Mrs. M. O'Connor. Mrs. W. P. Bootten paid a brief visit to Wanganui during the week. Mrs. Walters is in the Hawera hospital.
