An Invercargill man was killed when a car which he was cranking and which he had left in gear ran over him. Geraldine Acceptances. Aceeptances for the first day of the Geraldine Racing Club's meeting on Thursday and Safurday are announced. Rhodes Scholarship Nominees. An old boy of New Plymouth High School is a Victoria University College nominee for a 1941 Rhodes Scholarship. Weather Fair to Fine. The weather generally will be fair to fine with moderate day temperatures and light to fresh southerly winds, according to the official forecast. Fifth Period Import Licenses. Details of the import licenses for the fifth period are being completed by the Minister of Finance and may be published by the end of the week. Reinforcements into Camp. After consultation with the medical authorities it has been decided to proceed with the programme for concentrating the 4th. reinforcements into mobilisation camps. Live-Hare Coursing. Although the Otago Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has decided to abandon a court action against those responsible for a recent live-hare coursing meeting it has decided to invite all sister associations to prosecute a campaign against such meetings. '
