"MURDER" PAMPHLETS
By Telegraph—Press Association.
BARBER SENT TO JAIL
Wellington, Sept. .16. The possession of pamphlets, described by Mr. J. L. Stout, S.M., as being of a scurrilous nature, resulted in the reserved judgment conviction of James Kelman, aged 37, hairdresser, who was charged last Thursday with having in his possession 127 copies of a pamphlet entitled "Murder," with a view to facilitating the publication of a subversive statement. A sentence was imposed of 12 months' hard labour. Mr. Stout did not think it could seriously be contended that the pamphlet did not contain a subversive statement. Kelman had given no evidence to explain his possession of them, and Mr. Stout thought it could properly be inferred that the only reason for his possession was to facilitate their publication.
