TRADES INDOOR BOWLS

The trades indoor bowling tournament commenced in the Queens hall, New Plymouth, last evening when the first section was played, the winner being Ewens, Waitara (fishermen) with three wins. Section B will be played on Tuesday, commencing at 6.45 p.m., and then continued during the week, the finals to be played off on Saturday evening. The results of last night's play are as follows:— First round: Mrs. Paynter (artists) 6 v. Petty (cabinetmakers) 12, Mrs. Julian ( fiorists) 8 v. Evans (linotypers) 12, Thomas (teachers) 5 v. McGiven (accountants) 11, Ewens (fishermen) 11 v. Cottam (furnishers) 8. Second rouncl: Evans 7 v. Cottam 12, Mrs. Paynter 4 v. McGiven 10, Mrs. Julian 7 v. Ewens 8, Petty 8 v. Thomas 16. Tliird round: Petty 3 v. Mrs. Julian 9, Thomas 9 v. Evans 10. Cottam 12 v. Mrs. Paynter 9, McGiven G v. Ewens 9. A pnirs tournament will commence on Monday.
