INSTITUTE SHOW HELD
EVENT AT HURWORTH FINE FLOWER SECTION The third annual show of the Hurworth Women's Institute, which was held in | the Hurworth Hall, attracted a splendid ; display of flowers and other entries. The show was opencd by Mrs. CliffordJones, federation president, who congratulated the committee on a fine show. Mr. F. Pepperell also congratulated the committee and said the flowers were better than thos'e of the previous year. Mrs. Gilbert, institute president, thanked the speakers and all who had helped to make the show such a success, especially the judges, Mrs. Williams, Mrs. Knight, Mrs. Horton and Mr. Pepperell. A cup given by Mr. Pepperell for three blooms (one each of trumpct, incomparabilis and leedsii) was won by Mrs. F. Harrison. The champion bloom award was won by Mrs. F. Lee. Secretarial duties were undertaken by Mrs. J. Burnett and Mrs. R. Cole and Mrs. Sampson was treasurer. The afternoon tea arrangements were supervised by Mesdames Mischefski, Urbahn, Roper and Newman. Mrs. R. Gilbert was in charge of the sewing and produce stall, which did brisk business. Songs were sung by Mrs. Crabbe, accompanied by Mr. Sutherland.
