presbyterian show There was a fine display of spring blooms in the Kakaramea hall on Friday, when the Patea Presbyterian church Missionary Union held its annual spring flower show in aid of mission funds. The arrangements for the show were in the hands of Miss L. Masters and Mrs. J. Huston. Mesdames A. McDonald and Ward were responsible for afternoon tea arrangements and Mesdames Oliver and Balsillie were in charge of the stalls. Items were given by Mesdames A. McDonald, G. W. Corbett and Miss M. Illingworth and putting and quoits competitions were won by the Rev. W. J. Henderson. Awards were: — Floral section (judge, Mrs. W. F. Sheild; stewards, Mesdames R. Hunger and F. Naismith): Daffodils, three varieties, Mrs. H. Sutherland 1 and 2; collection of bulbs, Mrs. Sutherland 1 and 2; freesias, Miss L. Masters 1, Mrs. Sutherland 2; ranunculas, four varieties, Mrs. G. Garriock 1, Mrs. W. Marshall 2; anemones, four varieties, Mrs. Garriock 1; primroses, four varieties, Mrs. L. Hamilton 1, Miss E. Foreman 2; polyanthus, four varieties, Miss M. Naismith 1, Mrs. Garriock 2; decorated table, Mrs. Sutherland 1; bowl of bulbs, Mrs. M. Amon 1, Mrs. R. Forbes 2; bowl of any flowers, Mrs. Forbes 1 and 2; hand posy, Mrs. Marshall 1 and 2; shoulder spray, Mrs. Forbes 1, Mrs. Amon 2. Children's section: Decorated tumbler, Marie Carmichael 1; knitted article, Beryl Martin 1 and 2. Cooking section (judge, Mrs. C. S. Martin; steward, Mrs. H. Sutherland): Plain scones, Mrs. M. Amon 1 and 2; pikelets, Mrs. Amon 1, Mrs. R. Watt 2; gems, Mrs. T. Foreman 1 and 2; shortbread, Mrs. Oliver 1, Mrs. F. Naismith 2; marmalade, Mrs. Naismith 1, Mrs. Foreman 2.
