A New Plymouth man who returned to his house on Saturday after some days' absence almost caught an intruder redhanded. As he was about to open the door he noticed that a window was wida open and then he caught a glimpse of a man moving furtively inside. He sent his wife for aid while, fortified by his advantage in size, he waited by the window for the intruder to come out. However, the latter must have heard footsteps for he got out another window and escaped into Baines Terrace before the householder could catch up with him. Nothing was missing from the home. Taranaki Publicity. He would certainly take up the matter with the Tourist and Publicity Department on his next visit to Wellington and would use his best endeavours to obtain more just and generous treatment of Taranaki's scenic baauty in future publications, said the Hon. James McLeod, M.L.C., when his attention was drawn to the omission of Taranaki's claims in a recent booklet issued by the department. "It is a very great pity that in so many publications designed for tourists so little use is made of Egmont New Zealand's unique geographical feature," said Mr. McLeod. Disappointment at the position revealed was also expressed by the Mayor of New Plymouth, Mr. E. R. C. Gilmour, who said the beauty of Mt. Egmont and the province as a whole was worth publishing far and wide.
