REGENT THEATRE, ELTHAM.
"SHIPYARD SALLY" FINALLY. The intriguing personality of Gracie Fields has full scope in "Shipyard Sally," which will be finally shown to-night at the Regent Theatre, Eltham. The girl who has become beloved by tens of thousands of people in all parts of the British Empire has in this picture a role which will add to the height of the pinnacle on which her fans have placed her. The story of "Shipyard Sally" concerns Gracie as the proprietress of a "pub" on the Clydebank, the home of the English ship-building industry. Gracie makes herself as one with the workers there, and when work on the ship-building ceases bends every effort to relieve the depression which overtakes them. But the main theme of the picture is not displayed on the surface, although the audience is made fully aware of it. The theme is the spirit which makes the simple people of Britain the bulwark of her greatness, and that the spirit is strongest now is the moral of "Shipyard Sally." During the course of the film Gracie shows her versatijity in a wide range of songs, from "Swing" to the evergreen favourite "Danny Boy."
