Allegations that they have seen no proper schedule of the co-operative contract system conditions are made by Wellington watersiders. Auckland's Rugby Win. J Auckland defeated Wellington by 12 points to 10 in a representative Rugby match at Athletic Park, Wellington, maintaining its unbeaten record. Racing at Avondale. Clinch won the principal event on the opening day of the Avondale Jockey Club's spring meeting. Other winners were Miss Baffles, Beau Leon and Marshall Hall. Ashburton Winners. Winning Rivcl annexed the main event at the Ashburton Racing Club's spring meeting on Saturday. Other horses to lead fields home were Roy Bun and Braw Lass. Public Service Salary Increasc. Salaries and wages of Government servants over 18 years of age and receiving Jess than £355 a year are to be increased 5s a week as a cost of living allowance. Small amounts are provided for other categories. Avondale S*cond Day. Good acceptances for the concluding day of the Avondale Jockey Club's spring meeting to-day promise to make interesting racing, the more so because. with every prospect of rain, it is forecast that the going will be different from that on the first day.
