WIN FOR WANGANUI
PRIMARY SCHOOL GAME In a fairly fast game with plenty of surprises Wanganui primary school Rugby representatives beat Taranaki representatives by 15 to 6 on Spriggens Park on Saturday. Taranaki scored two tries to one. The match, which was played in excellent conditions, was watched by a crowd consisting mainly of school children. The teams were:— Taranaki: J. Dravitski; I. Mclsaac, C Mather, T. Hayter; K. Cameron, C. Curd; Walsh, J. Kissick, R. Magon, Mitchell, Corkill, R. Walsh; M. Waswo, Kinkan, R. Evans. Wanganui: T. Pratt; T. Noema, T. Haddon, R. Goldthorpe, L. Head, G. Price;* A. Webby, J. Bradley, L: O'Connor, I. Rolls, C. Anderson, J. Read, J. Whitfield; F. Tasker, T. Symes. The half-time score of 7-3 favoured Wanganui, and in the second half Wanganui continued playing hard, with the backs attacking repeatedly, another eight points being added. Wanganui's points came from two penalty goals, a field goal, and a converted try, and Taranaki 's from two tries. Taranaki had the advantage in the scrums, but Wanganui forwards played a good game in the loose. Probably Wanganui's score would have been much Iarger, but the backs had a tendency to retain the ball too long, with the result that many promising movements were broken down by Taranaki tackling. Scorers for Wanganui were: Webby, two penalty goals and a conversion; Price, a field goal, and Anderson a try. For Taranaki, Cameron scored both tries.
