KAKARAMEA DISTRICT
The monthly meeting of the Kakaramea branch of the Red Cross Society was held last week. Mrs. L. Morris presiding. Correspondence from the Red Cross headquarters at Wellington was received. Articles handed in included five pairs of bed socks, eight pairs of mittens, two balaclavas and 30 scarves. There were also 84 garments for the Lady Galway guild for refugees. Winners at a euchre partv at Kakaramea were Mrs. Rogers and Mr. R. Jones. Winners of thc points prizes for the series were Mrs. A. Ward and Mr. H. Joblin. Consolation prizes were won by Miss D. Cate and Para Iluatahu. Person al. Mr. and Mrs. P. Oakley, Paraparaumu, are the guests of their daughter, Mrs. E. Oakley. Mr. and Mrs. R. Thomson recently visited Wellington. Mr. H. Cate has returned from the South Island. wh^re he attended the funeral of his mother at Nelson. Mrs. P. Dwyer who has been in the Patea hosnital. has returned home. Mrs. A. Ward and Miss M. Ward renantly yisited New Plymouth
