"NANCY DREW" TO-DAY.

REGENT THEATRE PROGRAMME. Commencing to-day at the Regent Theatre at 2 p.m. and to-night at 7.45 p.m. is another of the Nancy Drew series, "Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase." It features that clever little girl- Bonita Granville as Nancy Drew and her boy friend Ted Nickerson, again played by Frankie Thomas. As the title of the new picture indicates, it has a somewhat more eerie atmosphere than previously filmed ^ adventures of the girl detective and Ted. This time they find themselves in a haunted house, so they think, looking for clues to convict a murderer. The efforts of these two and the traps they fall into and get out of before final success makes grand entertainment The second feature stars John Litel as the Rev. Tom Storm, who believes mostcriminals can be rehabilitated if their problems are understood. His appointment as chaplain of a penitentiary noted for brutality gives the screen an amazing dramatic story of the intrigues and crimes, even murder, that involved this man wearing the cloth. Prominent parts are played by Barton MacLane, Cy Rendall and Rochelle Hudson.
