GENERAL

Farewell at Waverley. A farewell was held at Mr. and Mrs. D. Walker's residence to Messrs. Lance and Laurie Walker and Allan Wallace, who leave shortly for military service. Community singing was enjoyed. On behalf of those present Mr. N. Bromiley asked the guests of honour to accept a money belt each. Other speakers were Messrs. G. Walker and J. Pepper. Gift io Waverley Brigadc. A sum of £2 2s was voted the Waverley fire brigade by the Wanganui-Rangi-tikei Electric Power Board at a recent meeting. The gift was made in appreciation of the brigade's efforts in saving a power pole which had caught fire.
