OUR JEAN FAVOURED REVIEW OF FIELDS The Avondale Jockey Club's spring meeting will open to-morrow. Good fields are engaged and there should be some excellent contests. Most of the events bear an open appearance and there should be a wide range of fancies. Provision has been made to run the Trial Plate in two divisions if the safety number of 28 is exceeded, but it is probable that the necessity for divisions will be obviated as Karatoki has been scratched, Cheddington is not to run, and at least one other scratching is expected. The course is in splendid order after fine weather during the past few days, and the going should be good. Horses likely to be well supported include: — 11.30: Kingsland Hurdles: Midland, Lapidarian, The Trimmer. 12.16: Trial Plate: Venture, Glen Connell, Expellant. 1.2: Henderson Handicap: Rex Maitland, Mysito, Te Haka. 1.50: Avondale Cup: Our Jean, The Cardinal, Mintlaw. 2.35: Avondale Stakes: Colombo Bay, Greenock, Kawariki. 3.23: Champion Plate: Beau Leon, Classic, Native Chief. 4.12: Flying Handicap: Gaymiss, Lou Rosa, Marshall Hall. 5.0: Swanson Handicap: Minority, Don Quex, Esquire.
