WOMEN'S DIVISION

Okato: The September meeting was held in the Methodist hall, Okato, Mrs. fxndrews presiding. It was decided to support the W.D. bomber fund and to assist the leper appeal. The resignation of Mrs. P. Knight was received. A raffle was won by Miss Rogers. A scone competition was won by Mrs. C. Putt with Miss Rogers second. Best blooms were brought by Miss Rogers 1, Mrs. Putt 2 and Mrs. Thompson 3. Mrs. Eustace won a wandering shilling. After "the meeting members worked for the Lady Galway Guild. Mrs. F. Roebuck and Mrs. Watters were hostesses. Mokau- Awakino: Mrs. K. Black presided at the home of Mrs. Carrington. A letter% of thanks was received from the Navy League for a bed cover. The sum of £10 was voted by the branch towards the W.D.F.U. fighting plane. Members were requested to bring articles for the Makogai lepers at the next meeting. A Uirther sum of £2 9s was received from Mrs. Terrill, the proceeds from weekly community singing. The branch decided j to ■ contribute half of the unaddressed parcels required by the local patriotic committee. Mrs. Opie was elected representative on the patriotic committee following Mrs. A. Waite's resignation. Miss Wareing gave a demonstration on rugmaking and Mrs. K. Sutton showed how mittens could be made from the tops of old socks. Members packed garments for the Lady Galway guild, the results of sewing bees. A bed and a cot cover from diamond-shaped woollen materials made by Mokau River members were included. Mrs. Sage, Mrs. Cameron and Mrs. Carriagton were hostesses. Inglewood Jitnior: The usual monthly meeting took the form of a social afternoon to eelebrate the ninth anniversary of the branch's foundation. Miss M. Grofski presided in the absence of the president, Miss S. Bennett. Mrs. Marsh was accompanist for community singing. Songs were sung by Miss N. Mclntyre. Winners of .competitions were: Knitting, Miss E. Burrows; memory test, Miss McMahon: names, Mrs. Codd and Mrs. Dickson; jumbled words, Miss B. Woolridge; musical parcel, Miss L. Bennett. A prlze given by Mrs. Adnams was won by Miss N. Bracegirdle. Afternoon tea was served by Misses E. Hodges, B. Bracegirdle and N. Bracegirdle.
