Cockneys Cheerful. New cheerfulness has been given to Londoners by the success of the antiaircraft barrage. Many Casualties at Berlin. Italian reports state that the Royal Air Force caused 1753 casualties in Wednesday's raid on Berlin. Less Damage in Raids. Thursday night's raids on England were over a wider area, but little damage was done and casualties were few. Axis Demands Refused. France is facing a new crisis as the Vichy Government is reported to have rejected sweeping German and Italian demands. Bremen in Flames. Fierce fires at Bremen are reported following a prolonged raid by the Royal Air Force. Other towns in Germany have serious fires. French Courage Renewed. Taking fresh courage, the French in Indo-China have completed almost total mobilisation. More assurances have been received from Tokio. Britain's Hammer Blows. Britain's hammer blows from the air are impressively shown by a summary of Royal Air Force objectives in the first ten days of September. No Other Town Weakened. No other point has been weakened in the strengthening of London's anti-air-craft defences, the startling success of which is due to a new method of prediction. Egypt Not Invaded Yet. Although reports that an Italian offensive has commenced could not be denied, the invasibn of Egypt by Italy has not yet begun, no troops having crossed the frontier.
