RED CROSS WORK
NEW PLYMOUTH ACTIVITY The packing committee of the New Plymouth branch of the Red Cross Society has packed and dispatched a further four cases of hospital comforts to the joint council of Red Cross and St. john at Wellington, and seven packages gnd cases of refugee clothing to the New Plymouth Lady Galway guild. Included in the refugee clothing were the following new garments received from the district nurse committee: Six pairs children's bloomers, 6 children's nightdresses, 1 lady's nightdress, 4 babies' vests, 1 baby's pilchers, 1 pair bootees, 1 baby's dress and 1 bonnet. The total number of garments were: 43 men's garments, 101 women's, 256 children's, 4 sundries and 2 quilts. The hospital comforts were 117 scarves, 120 balaclavas, 31 pairs bed socks, 10 hospital stockings, 25 helmets, 10 kneecaps, 3 pullovers, 67 pairs mittens, 6 pairs socks, 5 amputee pillows, 137 face cloths, 11 many-tailed bandages, 37 tray and trolley covers, 34 hospital bags, 20 jug covers, 20 handkerchiefs, 2 pairs pyjamas, 2 bedjackets, 4 hospital sleeves, 4 theatre stockings, 43 hot water bag covers, 1 pair slippers, 50 cakes soap and old linen, a total of 759 articles.
