NEW PLYMOUTH
Mrs. R. W. Savage is attending the Avondale races. Mrs. A. G. Colson, Egmont Road, has returned after spending a week at Hamilton. Mrs. J. Conaglen and Mrs. M. Hickey were joint hostesses at a farewell party at Mrs. Conaglen's home yesterday for Mrs. T. Dineen, who will shortly leave New Plymouth to live at Mahoenui. On arrival Mrs. Dineen was presented with a shoulder spray by Miss Griffiths. Afternoon tea was served, after which Mrs. Hickey presented the guest of honour with a gift from her friends present and Mrs. Conaglen presented a bouquet. Mrs. B. E. Stott will leave to-day to spend a holiday at North Egmont. ' Misses E. and K. Royse will leave today for a visit io Wellington. Mrs. J. H. Leggat will leave to-day to spend the week-end at Hawera. Mrs. G. L. Almond has returned to New Plymouth from a holiday at Wellington. Mrs. Austin Yarndley, Te Awamutu, arrived yesterday to spend a few days at New Plymouth. War Coniforts Group. At a meeting of the Fitzroy war comforts group on Wednesday afternoon the secretary reported that since its inception at the beginning of July 238 garments, 36 pairs of mittens, 4 pairs of socks, 36 scarves, 4 balaclavas, 8 skull caps, 6 quilts, 5 many-tail bandages, 1 T bandage and 11 hot water bottle covers had'been forwarded to the Red Cross for distribution. Twenty-three garments had been forwarded to the Lady Galway Guild and 24 hussifs to the patriotic committee.
