COLLECTING WASTE
PLANS FOR STRATFORD The collection of waste materials from the Stratford district next week has been arranged by a meeting of the Stratford committee for the reclamation of waste. County council lorries, it was arranged, would collect from dairy factories and country schools on Wednesday next. Other lorries would collect from the footpaths outside tlie borough houses on Saturday, September 21. One thousand circulars had been sent to schools and dairy factories in the district setting out the waste materials required, the chairman, Mr. H. S. Sinclair, said, and Mr. S. R. Mann, engineer of the Stratford County Council had agreed to arrange transport for the country material. Mr. Mann said the country collection could not be made on the Saturday, September 21, the clearing date. The plan was to collect in the country a day or two before the Saturday. In that way the collection could be made with the least trouble. Two days would Pe sufficient for the collection. He went on to detail the days on which the collection would be made in various areas and the itinerary was adopted. It was decided that country material not brought to the town depot should be at factories and schools for collecion on Wednesday, September 18. Plans were drawn up for newspaper advertising and posters to make the position clear to the public. The metals wanted are copper, copper wire, brass, bronze, gunmetal, foil, lead, toothpaste and shaving cream tubes and zinc. The other materials are cardboard, brown paper and fabrics.
