TRIBUTE TO SUCCESS

FOOTBALLERS HONOURED The Athletic Rugby Football Club's fourth grade team, which won the Taranaki championship this season, and members of the executive of the club were entertained on Wednesday night at a dinner at the White Hart hotel, Hawera, by Mrs. S. Fahy. The club president, Mr. E. O. Woolliams, presided and congratulated the team on its success and 1 expressed appreciation of the club of | Mrs. Fahy's hospitality. | Making the presentation of the Taranaki fourth grade championship shield, Mr. Woolliams congratulated the players on the results of the season's activities and mentioned that the first team to win the shield was the old New Plymouth Technical College. The captain, A. West, accepted the shield on behalf of his team mates and briefly responded. Fourth grade trophies were presented at the recent club smoke concert, similar trophies were presented to third grade players. Cups and silver minia- | tures were preesnted to A. Saywell and B. Joyce, who were adjudged the most improved back and forward respectively, and a silver button was presented to J. Peacock who was considered to the most gentlemanly player both on and off the field. After the hotel gathering Mr. and Mrs. Woolliams entertained at a social at their home in Regent Street.
