GRADE RETENTION

HAWERA MAIN SCHOOL No difficulty should be experienced in maintaining the present grading of the school. reported the headmaster, Mr. H. E. Webster, at the monthly meeting of the Hawera Main school committee last night. The number of pupils admitted during the last three school weeks was 14. and the number of withdrawals was three, said Mr. Webster. The roll number was now 488. and the attendance was 477. The school choir under the balon of Miss Blake succeeded in retaining the banner for unison singing at the Hawera competitions festival. The choir tied for first place in the class for part song.
